APPA’s 2024 Spring Conference in Nashville, TN
The new season of membership opened with a great bang in the delivery of our inaugural APPA 2024 Spring Conference in Nashville, TN. This meeting marks APPA’s return to an annual gathering that allows members within our organizations to learn, connect, and network. It was terrific as we welcomed colleagues from across North America, Australia, and South Africa who brought with them energy felt throughout the days of programming. During the conference, we had the opportunity to celebrate our 2023 Award for Excellence honorees—the University of Arizona & University of Houston—representing the highest institutional recognition within APPA.
Throughout the days together, friends reconnected, new colleagues were introduced to one another, and learning from across the community was had on many levels. We also enjoyed the generous support of our many sponsors for the event, reinforcing our business partners’ strong relationships within APPA and their desire to continue supporting excellence on our campuses.
We look forward to announcing the 2025 location in the coming months!
FPI Survey Relaunching in Dynamic Fashion
APPA marks another new beginning this spring with the relaunch of our FPI Survey. Our annual data collection platform has been reworked, redesigned, and recharged to meet today’s dynamic FM data needs. APPA’s newly designed FPI survey includes new dashboards that make it easier to gather the necessary data, and make the report ratios available instantly and with visual enhancements. Seen as one of APPA’s highest-regarded benefits, our FPI Survey program brings together constituency groups benchmarking one another to continue their growth to excellence. We feel the investment in this new platform will move the profession’s data collection efforts to the next level, ensuring strategic innovations continue to enhance facilities throughout the membership.
Water What You Want to Grow – Professional Development Opportunities
As we look further into the 2024/2025 year, we are excited to see how our newest local delivery of professional development opportunities, Invest in Success, takes root within the regions and chapters of our community. This exciting new offering is designed to develop and inspire front-line staff in their role at your institution and recognize their role as the cornerstone of institutional excellence. Course curriculum centers around foundational knowledge and skills for success in their roles as contributors to their institution’s success. As we know, our professional development fosters learning at every level of the facilities management profession and is a top benefit of one’s membership with APPA.
Our staff is looking forward to a new delivery time of year for APPA U, from January and September to January and June. Results from a survey among the members told us that June would be a more sensible time of year than September for this event. We value your feedback and changed the cycle so that we can provide you with the resources you have come to expect from your association of choice.
APPAConnect – Reaching You With Ease
We are also happy to announce a new vehicle for community communication by introducing APPA’s new member only Listserv, APPAconnect. This new benefit allows professionals to network with peers, discuss challenges and solutions, explore best practices, get quick answers to pressing questions related to day-to-day facilities-related questions, and share insights and experiences with other APPA members. APPAconnect combines the email simplicity of APPA’s former listserv with the most useful functions of digital community platforms, including archiving and saving messages.
Let’s Expand Our APPA Family
As our continued commitment to remain your association of choice, we are excited to ignite new growth among the APPA community this membership cycle. APPA staff is actively analyzing historical membership data to re-engage those who may have slipped away from our membership, whether due to a change in leadership or budgetary matters. The richness of the programs and services we offer is only as beneficial as the facilities professionals who partake in them.
