Hailing from almost every U.S. state and as far away as Saudi Arabia, close to 400 educational facilities professionals convened in New Orleans in early January for two of APPA’s signature professional development programs: The Institute for Facilities Management and the Leadership Academy, sold-out events held simultaneously under the umbrella of APPA U, January 8–11, 2024.
The program also included graduation ceremonies for 38 professionals who completed the Institute and Academy programs during the New Orleans program.
Attendees described the program as “phenomenal … a great learning experience.”
Offerings from the Institute for Facilities Management included 35 courses in New Orleans, all within the four core areas of General Administration, Operations & Maintenance, Energy & Utilities, and Planning, Design & Construction. Courses covered topics ranging from master planning and capital asset management to environmental health and safety.
Thirteen facilities professionals from educational institutions throughout the United States and Canada successfully completed courses within each core, receiving 12 continuing education units and a certificate from Institute Dean Lynne Finn, of the University of Iowa.
