Cameron Christensen Receives 2022 Rex Dillow Award for Outstanding Article
We are pleased to announce that the recipient of APPA’s 2022 Rex Dillow Award is Cameron Christensen, CEFP, associate vice president for facilities at The Julliard School in New York. Cameron’s article, titled “Ventilation as a Tool to Protect Against COVID-19,” was published in the November/December 2021 issue of Facilities Manager. A special sidebar to this year’s award – in 1987, 35 years ago, the very first Rex Dillow Award was presented to Cameron’s father, Doug Christensen.
The Rex Dillow Award for Outstanding Article is an annual award given to the author of the best article published in Facilities Manager magazine during the previous year. A selection committee comprising a representative from each APPA region reviewed and rated the eligible articles.
Cameron wrote that while every educational institution had its own unique challenges in dealing with the pandemic, Juilliard was no different. Being a performing arts conservatory, their work predominantly consists of acting, dancing, singing, and playing instruments. In the early stages of the pandemic, Juilliard’s Office of Facilities Management conducted a study of its ventilation systems using in-house engineers, analyzed the results, and implemented repairs and remedies that improved the effectiveness of its aging equipment, all of which is detailed in his article.
Upon learning the news of his award, Cameron responded, “I am honored and humbled by this unexpected news! I cannot express enough the gratitude I have for this recognition.” Congratulations to Cameron on his achievement on receiving the 2022 Rex Dillow Award for Outstanding Article.
