APPA Educational Facilities Professionals Certification (CEFP) Board is seeking nominations for multiple board vacancies
Are you passionate about advancing professionalism in educational facilities? APPA invites you to apply for a volunteer role on the Educational Facilities Professionals Certification Board, the governing body for APPA’s Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP) credential.
As a board member, you’ll contribute to the excellence and integrity of one of the most respected certifications in the FM profession.
Position at a Glance
- Role: APPA Educational Facilities Professionals Certification Board Member
- Type: Volunteer
- Term Length: 2 years
- Time Commitment: ~1–2 hours/month + 1 in-person meeting annually
What You’ll Do
- Governance and Oversight: Guide and approve certification program policies, procedures, financials and eligibility requirements.
- Standards Alignment: Ensure certification content reflects up-to-date practices, trends, and competencies in facilities management.
- Appeals: As needed, serve on appeals committees, ensuring confidentiality, impartiality, and due process.
- Promotion and Advocacy: Represent and promote the value of certification within the facilities management community.
- Strategic Input: Contribute to long-term strategy and growth planning for the certification body.
What We’re Looking For
To be considered, applicants should:
- Be an APPA member in good standing (institutional or business partner). Emeritus and retired members may be considered based on service.
- Have 7+ years of experience in facilities management or a related field.
- Hold high ethical standards and thrive in collaborative, decision-making environments.
- Be committed to professional excellence in FM.
- Preferred: CEFP or other FM credential (CFM®, FMP®, SFP®) in good standing.
- Bonus: Familiarity with professional credentialing or exam development.
Board Logistics
- Virtual Meetings: Monthly (1 hour each)
- Committee Work: As needed between meetings
- In-Person Meeting: One per year (held in conjunction with an APPA event)
- Orientation & Support: Provided to all new board members
