APPA has joined other educational associations in signing a joint letter to the U.S. House of Representatives in support of H.R. 8932, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Deadline Act.
Passage of the legislation would move the current statutory date for the annual release of the FAFSA from January 1 to October 1 of the year preceding the start of the applicant’s planned academic year. The joint letter states that completing the FAFSA is a crucial first step for applicants and their families to take to obtain a more affordable post-secondary education. The proposed date change would allow them sufficient time to make this financial decision.
