Purpose
The APPA Business Partner Advisory Committee aims to foster collaboration between APPA and its business partners, supporting the organization’s mission to advance educational facilities management. This Code of Conduct outlines ethical guidelines to ensure members act in APPA’s best interests, avoid conflicts of interest, and maintain the integrity of their roles.
Commitment to APPA’s Mission: Committee members shall prioritize APPA’s mission and support initiatives that advance educational facilities management. They shall refrain from using their committee roles for personal or business gain.
Confidentiality of Information: Committee members shall not disclose or use confidential or proprietary information obtained through their committee role for personal, professional, or commercial benefit. Sensitive information, including APPA strategy, member insights, and committee discussions, must always be protected.
Avoidance of Conflicts of Interest: Members shall disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest, including financial, personal, or professional interests that may influence their committee contributions. When a conflict arises, the members may be asked to recuse themselves from specific discussions or decisions.
Non-Solicitation: Committee members shall not leverage their position to solicit business or sell products or services to APPA or other committee members. Professional integrity and respect for the committee’s purpose must be upheld in all interactions.
Integrity in Decision-Making: Members shall make decisions in good faith, based on objective analysis, and in alignment with APPA’s goals. Members must avoid favoritism, collusion, or any activity that could appear biased or self-serving.
Respectful and Collaborative Behavior: Committee members shall engage in respectful, open dialogue and support a collaborative atmosphere. Disagreements should be handled professionally, and diverse perspectives should be valued.
Compliance with APPA Policies: All committee members must adhere to APPA’s policies governing ethics, confidentiality, and professional conduct and comply with all applicable laws and regulations related to their committee roles.
Reporting Unethical Behavior: Members are encouraged to report any unethical behavior or suspected violations of this Code of Conduct to APPA leadership. Such reports will be handled confidentially, and retaliatory action against reporters is strictly prohibited.
Review and Amendment
This Code of Conduct will be reviewed annually to ensure it continues to serve the committee’s purpose effectively. Amendments may be made to adapt to new challenges or opportunities.
