Two new individuals have joined the APPA staff, bringing to the association their varied backgrounds in our efforts to better serve our members.

Anna Welscott is taking the role of Program Manager for APPA. She will be responsible for coordinating and managing a portfolio of APPA’s programs and initiatives, including APPA Advisors, Facilities Management Evaluation Program (FMEP), Facilities Performance Indicators (FPI), Body of Knowledge (BOK), and Center for Facilities Research (CFaR).

Anna is no stranger to APPA or the field of Facilities Management (FM). She has nearly 15 years of FM experience within higher education and has been a member of APPA since 2012. Anna has completed the APPA Institute and Leadership Academy and collaborated with other stakeholders to establish the Colorado State Chapter of APPA in 2017.

“I am committed to build on the existing foundation of APPA to improve the member experience and create and maintain useful resources that will prove valuable to the members of APPA,” Welscott said.

Audrey Sorensen joins APPA as Membership Success Manager. Her responsibilities include supporting member retention and recruitment efforts through targeted outreach and strategic planning, in addition to managing membership programs, services, and benefits to align with APPA’s mission and goals. Additionally, Sorensen will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with members to ensure engagement and satisfaction, and collaborating with internal teams to develop resources, events, and tools that meet members’ needs. She will also act as a liaison between members and the organization to gather feedback and implement improvements.

Prior to joining APPA, Sorensen served as president, vice president, and marketing vice president of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), where she led efforts to connect and engage members, promote various new programs, and organized events. Additionally, she focused on enhancing the value and visibility of the profession. She has a background in landscape architecture, with experience designing and managing college campus projects creating sustainable and functional spaces, thus enhancing the student experience.

“I am excited to join APPA and contribute my experience in design, community engagement, and association leadership to support its mission,” Sorensen said. “APPA’s commitment to empowering its members aligns with my passion for storytelling, creating connections, and building meaningful experiences. And I look forward to helping our members succeed and grow within their professional communities.”

Please join us in welcoming Anna and Audrey to APPA.
