Since 2009, thousands of educational facilities professionals have advanced their knowledge and their careers by achieving the status of Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP). The next opportunity to achieve this credential begins January 17 with the launch of Cohort Group A28—a 90-day, online studying group of prospective CEFPs who will take the CEFP exam between April 16 and May 15, 2024. Register for this cohort and learn more about the course and exam.
Designed for professionals with eight years of combined education and professional facilities management experience, the CEFP uniquely demonstrates mastery of professional expertise and is a mark of superior proficiency in the “core competencies” related to educational facilities outlined in APPA’s Body of Knowledge. Besides gaining the know-how to more effectively manage facilities-related challenges such as aging infrastructures and increasingly complex technologies, individuals who pass the CEFP exam receive a digital certificate and badge and a customizable press release to distribute through their institution.
APPA membership is not required to take the exam or hold the credential, but APPA members save significantly. As of November 14, 2023, 1,110 facilities professionals around the world are current with the CEFP designation. Maintaining the CEFP credential requires recertification every four years via engagement in professional development programs and volunteer leadership and service in support of the educational facilities profession.
