RESEARCH & SURVEY

The Center for Facilities Research (CFaR) was established in 2002 by APPA to organize and consolidate research in facilities management issues. The mission of CFaR is to advance the body of knowledge of facilities management through research, discovery, and innovation. To accomplish this mission, APPA invites facilities professional to conduct small- and large-scale research through CFaR.

APPA's Facilities Performance Indicators Survey and Report

Conducted annually, APPA's Facilities Performance Indicators survey is the only comprehensive collection of facilities-related costs and personnel information, strategic financial measures, and much more for colleges, universities, K-12 schools and districts, and other educational facilities. The resulting Facilities Performance Indicators reports are Web-based and include numerous charts, dashboard gauges, a cohort/peer review feature, and a searchable database.

APPA's Strategic Assessment Model (SAM) Survey

sam logo APPA's Strategic Assessment Model (SAM) is an essential tool that can be used to achieve organizational excellence through continuous improvement. SAM enables the facilities professional to assess an organization's financial performance, the effectiveness of its primary processes, the readiness of its employees to embrace the challenges of the future, and its ability to serve its customers. The facilities professional can utilize the model for self-improvement, peer comparison, or benchmarking. Learn more about the Strategic Assessment Model.
