Committees
COMMITTEES
Committees are comprised of association members whose work supports the specific mission and scope of that committee. Members become part of a committee through appointments. These appointments are made by the APPA President with the recommendation of the committee chairperson and the regional president. Committee members are appointed for a one-year term. However, upon recommendation of the chairperson and regional president, a member may be reappointed for two succeeding terms. No committee member may serve for more than three consecutive years.
Permanent Committees are established in the Association Bylaws. Current permanent committees include:
- Educational Programs
- Information and Research
- Professional Affairs
- Nominating Committee
- By-Laws Committee
- Planning Committee
Standing Committees are established by the Board of Directors. Current standing committees include:

Study Shows School Cleanliness Affects Learning
A recent national study of college students determined there is a correlation between the cleanliness of a school’s facilities and students’ academic achievement. Entitled Cleanliness and Learning in Higher Education, the study was based around the five levels of clean identified in APPA’s Custodial Staffing Guidelines for Educational Facilities.
