| Contact a nearby educational institution that is not a member and engage them in a discussion about the benefits of joining APPA. |
|
Attend one of APPA’s educational programs such as the Institute for Facilities Management and the Leadership Academy. |
Initiate the actions needed to achieve one of two credentials: the Educational Facilities Professional (EFP – for the entry and mid-level professional) or the Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP – for the longer term, experienced level professional). |
Approve one or more of your co-workers to attend the Supervisor’s Toolkit training. |

Volunteer to serve as an officer in a state/local chapter or regional association or on an APPA committee or Task Force. |
Sign up additional Associate Members at your institution as members of APPA. | |
Start a Facilities Management professional reading library at your institution and ensuring that each APPA publication is available for check-out and reading by any member of your Facilities Team. |
Attend or make a presentation at an annual Chapter, Regional or APPA educational program. |

Author an article for Facilities Manager magazine or contribute to/edit a book. |

Complete the Facilities Performance Indicators (FPI) survey. |
Participate in a research project through APPA’s Center for Facilities Research (CFaR). |

Work on/with a State/local Chapter or APPA conference Host Committee |
Send congratulatory letters from your region to everyone that attends an APPA-sponsored educational session. |

Offer to host an APPA-sponsored educational opportunity at your institution (i.e., Supervisor’s Toolkit, etc.) |
Recruit more Business Partners at the Chapter and Regional Level. |

Bring APPA programs to Chapter and Regional meetings such as the EFP preparatory course and exam. |
Author an article for a Regional newsletter. |

Participate in the APPA Listserve. |
Make yourself available for mentoring. |

| Host conference calls as a result of hot topics of interest from the APPA Listserve. | Reach out to the Senior Facilities Officer (SFO) at your institution and keep him/her involved with APPA. |

Study Shows School Cleanliness Affects Learning
Entitled Cleanliness and Learning in Higher Education, the national study of college students was based around the five levels of clean identified in APPA’s Custodial Staffing Guidelines for Educational Facilities.
